What is the first thing that gets into your mind when thinking of having the right quality into your prints? It is the cost, right? It seems that getting the best is always synonymous with high cost. This fact is based upon the reality that people should get their mind set into. The price of the talents of the experts plus highly-innovative tools surely does not come cheap nowadays. So, it should not be something that people in need of printing should wonder about.
If your budget for a printing project is low, you should not just mop around and pray for a miracle to happen. There are things you can do to keep your printing needs stay on budget.
Number one: You can ask your printer about the paper size recommendations so you can minimize paper waste. Just be sure to get the measurements right and fitted for your printing job.
Number two: A one color job is cheapest compared to colored. You can use any other color besides black in doing this. The designer can always be told to use this color in varying tints so as to give life to the document. If executed perfectly, it is just like getting two colors for the price of one.
Number three: The fewer the colors, the less the cost. This will save you the expense on films and plates. It is better to run full-colored prints on a CMYK printer rather than a two or three color one because it will save on the inks being used.
Number four: Remember that bleeds (or images or colors that run off the edge of the page) will cost a lot than those that does not. So using bleeds should be kept in the maximum or better not to use.
Number five: There is no harm in asking the printer for excess materials that can still be of use. For example, if another client has left some extra papers in excess, you could always ask the printer to sell it to you for lesser cost.
Number six: One or two color job should not stay limited to their present shades. Having them printed on a colored stock should be able to give additional details to them.
Number seven: Ask the printer about the best and most effective way to supply them with your project.
Number eight: No changes should be made after your printing job has been sent to the printer. This can save you a lot in additional costs needed for the editing and changing some things in your printing job.
